I'll See You Next Tuesday, Literally.

This year (2010) is coming to a close...

But hardly anyone is crying out loud over this closure,

thousands are all gearing up for the countdown parties

to usher in 2011 with an unbelievable amount of enthusiasm.

(I'm actually mourning the fact that we're getting older

in less than 365 X 24 X 60 minutes. Perhaps growing up

does have a few perks, well, we'll see.)

Approximately 50 countdown parties will be

held on our tiny red dot tomorrow.

Needless to say, the main event will be at the Float@Marina Bay

and fireworks will joyfully grace the occasion

after the classic " ...3, ...2, ...1, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! " .

Those fortunate people on higher grounds such as the Marina Bay Sands

and the Singapore Flyer will have the grand privilege to witness the

beauty of these brilliant flowers at midnight.

Hope that they have fun there. =)

Most unfortunately, trailing behind these hyped up festivities

would be several truck-loads of work.

Yes, school's starting on Tuesday

4 January 2011 after a extra long weekend break.

Secondary 3 life...

I have no idea what are we in for.

Let's just pull each other through those disasters,

and we should be fine.

Have a great time celebrating the start of 2011 !!!

It's Christmas!

Greetings!

This is THE season to be jolly,

so why not get out there to go a little nut?

The streets of Singapore are all decked out for the occasion,

stores are having unbelievably great Christmas ideas

and the food and beverage outlets are

doing their bit to boost the Christmas spirit.

Although Christmas is still two days away,

I'm thankful for having the privilege to check out this year's

celebratory events over the past two weeks.

I was at Orchard (Takashimaya,Wisma,ION Orchard) with Joanne and Rachel

last week and we spent nearly half the day laughing ourselves crazy.

The 1st stop of our little trip was

at Takashimaya where the annual toy fair was held.

The crowd was sparse, which is not very surprising seeing as it was a weekday

and how most people do their Christmas shopping on weekends.

The fair featured multitudes of Disney soft toys,

spinning tops (including young boys fawning over them) and a Barbie pavilion.

The fact that a doll which is well over 50 years old could still look so young,

could own a stationery line, clothing line and earn millions in cartoon movies

is just tough to believe.

She has even branded boots!

And I'm sure that Joanne and Rachel would gladly point out that

I could fit into those boots. I'll have to admit that it is true.

PS: Honestly, if those weren't Barbie boots, I might've bought them.

(This is the time where you roll your eyeballs or yell at me)

Done.

As I have stated earlier many food and beverage outlets have been

coming out with new foods, news drinks, tempting packages etc. during

this festive season.

Well, one of these outlets include Seventh Heaven at Takashimaya.

They've come up with several new flavours to celebrate Christmas.

And one of them was Candy Cane Ice-cream.

It tasted and smelled real sweet, maybe bordering slightly on the

"sickeningly sweet" side for some of you.

Hence you might want to take a cue from Rachel and try

their Dark Chocolate Whisky Ice-cream.

Bet that you'd be pleased to hear that this one is available all year round.

The Myuk section of Takashimaya was also one of our stops.

There were tons of quirky stuff as usual, namely one collection

presenting stress in a sophisticated graph, one collection which states

blatantly that the items were made of 100% plastic, one collection which bears

and unusual resemblance to income tax forms and one that bore the words

"Nothing To Declare"

"I'm having an out of money experience."

There was also one that featured Adobe Photoshop like how one would see it

upon opening the program.

It was tempting for us to throw one of them at Bei Le. It totally suits him.

Plus, it's also 100% plastic. HAHAHAHA.

Without saying a trip to Orchard Road during the Christmas season

is terribly incomplete without checking out the tinsels and evergreens.

A Quick Announcement

Hello!

I've successfully moved from the previous blog to this one here.

My previous blog was left in a disaster

after I started posting tons of irrelevant stuff.

Hence, I've migrated over here in an attempt to ensure that

the quality and standard of my posts will be raised to a higher level

instead of mass music and news article spam.

Nonetheless, I've also evacuated two of my most favourite posts

from the trash heap and here they are on the-forbidden-rose.blogspot.com

I promise to bring less senseless updates here

and start being more sensible.

At least I will try to.

Clap Your Hands Together For THE Class Chalet

Last week was the all too fabulous 2/1 2010 class chalet!

It was great to be reunited with most of the class last Wednesday.

Not only did the chalet provide much needed relief from boredom

it donated a generous sum of fun and entertainment.

Many thanks to the people who organised the chalet,

namely Joanne, Julia and Jia Wei,

the 3 Powerpuff girls who persevered against all odds!!!

I'm guilty for not being exactly co-operative with you and

for not being much of a help.

So hope that you'll take this song as and appreciation-cum-apology gift

for now, promise to make it up to you properly someday.

PS: I can't sing for nuts but I guess you'll get the intentions anyway...

Now, for a quick run-over of how events turned out that day.

1. Met some 2/1-ians at Pasir Ris Mrt Station,
gathered with more of them at McDonalds' at Downtown East.

2. Watched the people bowl at E!Hub. (When you suck at sports, it's more
thrilling to watch others play. This also saves you from embarrassment.)
Hui Min and Ivan both got a strike each. Awesome skills there.
Anyway, it wasn't long before Ivan was showing-off while wearing
Chok Geow's cap and Joanne's sunshades. In the meantime, Hui Min proved
to be the best bowler in the girls' lane by whacking another 9/10.
The rest were decent, with many 9's amongst the guys and 3's amongst
the girls. I would've hit nothing, except my foot probably.

3. Had lunch at BBQ Chicken with Joanne, Hui Min, Julia, Kay Jan and Rachel.
It was hilarious to watch Joanne reason with Julia, trying to prove that
"July" was a band set up by Julia, the lead singer instead of a Korean Band;
while Julia kept insisting otherwise. Poor Julia, none of us had heard of
"July" and couldn't help her out of her predicament.

4. Checked into chalet with much credit to Tai Wen's Mum who did that on
top of paying extra $40, refusing any payment and saying "玩得开心就好了".
OMG. People like Afiq and Ivan seized the opportunity to draw comparisons
between Tai Wen and her Mum like how cute both of them are and how
much they look alike. Afiq said that he'd nearly mistaken Mrs. Chew for Tai Wen
and nearly cried out "Tai Wen, my love!" to the wrong person. Whoops.

5. Rented bikes for 1 hour with Rachel, Tai Wen and Kay Jan. We headed rather
far away from the chalet onto the beach where we made the "Rachel Volcano"
by burying Rachel's feet. The waves also revealed a starfish and a small crab,
besides the clam and mussel I picked up whilst seashell-hunting. Wow, I thought
marine life in Singapore had been doomed, glad to know that they're alive. We also
scavenged the beach for rocks and competing against each other to see who was the best rock-thrower. Pretty lame, but it was worth its fun.

6. Went back to the chalet and took a shower in the pool's changing rooms.
Rest of folks had gone to Wild Wild Wet, thanks to complimentary tickets from
Bi Feng. I suppose 28 pairs of free tickets is a worthy treat from the chalet
when you're staying there for a month while your house is being revamped.
It must've been great, seeing as they came back wild and wet.

7. The AMB-ians arrived slightly before dinner, that is, before the party fell
into full swing. Dinner comprised of chicken wings,satay, stingray,shiitake,baby
octopuses etc. BBQ-ed by the Powerpuff Girls and Tai Wen. You're super Tai Wen,
I don't know where you get your energy from. I was drained after cycling and all
but I'm glad I had enough kick to go BBQ a few marshmallows.
PS: Kay Jan, I don't think that I can forget the Mashed Potato and Marshmallow
mix-up we had over lunch, not for a very long time.

8. Beach-walked with Tingyu, Puqian, Ivan and Effy, Tai Wen, Kay Jan, Hui Min, Clevence, Rachel, Leonard. There was quite a lot of screaming about stepping into
mud but it was quite worth the dirt. I decided to take advantage of my camera's
auto-flash to grab a few night-time pictures. Unfortunately, the lovely eyeballs
of these lovely people reflected the flash too well and they got this horrid
red-eyed, Residents' Evil zombie look; and now Tingyu holds my camera skills
in question...

9. Listened and applauded a really honest farewell talk from Hui Min back at
the chalet. I'm gonna miss this awesome girl who is heading off to VJC next year.
For some reason, most of the 2/1-ians were gathered upstairs and as Kelvin said,
they were "having fun in bed". Thirst got over me and I snuck downstairs for a
drink, only to discover Joanne, Julia, Jia Wei, Clevence scheming to scare the
rest upstairs by charging in and pulling party-poppers. I offered to take pictures
of shocked expressions for Joanne but it was tough, with all the movement and the short time span courtesy of the inefficiency of the tiny party-poppers.
PS: Maybe my camera skills ought to be held in question after all, they are
horribly unpredictable.

10. Left the chalet, most unfortunately at 9pm with Fangmin and Tingyu. Pity that
we could not stay overnight, it would've been a total blast since things were almost in full swing when we left.

When You're Gone, You Leave Me With A Heartache.

My days with 2/1 2010 are officially over.
Two years stormed by in a hurricane,
filled with a wide assortment of strong emotions and hilarious ventures.
Looking back, the time we spent together doesn't seem to be longer
than waiting for a bus at a bus stop
and I would give anything to relive those good old times,
random laughter, annoying the teachers...
These times couldn't have been better, honestly.
(As compared to my rather tragic primary school days...)

When You're Gone, You Leave Me With A Heartache. is hereby dedicated to my beloved 2/1 2010.

Early 2009, I came to ANDSS, stupidly wearing a tie and
eyeing people fearfully as I made my way to the hall.
I was terribly disappointed when I realised that Ronice and I weren't
in the same class.
There wasn't anyone I previously knew who was posted to 1/1 2009.
Stoned past the first assembly and thereafter.
Oh, the chaotic struggle as we rushed to get seats in our level 3 classroom,
determined to get a good spot near our ex-schoolmates...
I remembered wandering around like a lost child untill finally plonking myself
at the back, where the lockers stood.
Soraya, I'm so freaking glad you sat beside me then and helped me to open up,
else I would have been killed by the boredom I suffered in my icy prison.
Amni and Haziqah, I still remember how you two were talking animatedly during
the rehearsals for the badge-pinning ceremony while I sat behind you,
staring at Haziqah's hair which was ridiculously straight back then.

The first few days of orientation seems no more than a passing bird.
And yeah, German started. I figured that I seemed to be the only one taking 3rd lang
since no one else seemed to talk about it.
It was only through you, Kay Jan, that I learnt that Rachel and Lekhaa were also taking German on Thursday!
From then on we headed to MOELC with Kiah Eng, met Frau Anwar and the rest was history.

Soon, Mrs Lawrence shuffled our seats, making us sit in groups of four
in register order.
That was how I came into contact with Jia Wei, Joanne and Bei Le.
By then Jia Wei and Joanne were pretty much good friends and were often making fun
of Bei Le. I had fun watching you two annoy the shit out of him.
It was great sitting with you guys, I learned loads about the people in class,
e.g how Rachel always seems to have gastric in the morning and how Bei Le is some
freaking computer geek etc.
And Jia Wei, you were the first to send me a song via Bluetooth!
Thanks a lot! If you hadn't allowed me to raid your songs,
I wouldn't have realised that it was Avril Lavigne who sang Complicated.

Unfortunately, sitting in groups of four wasn't really practical as not everyone could look at the whiteboard without shifting their chairs which can be quite ear-piercing especially when the chairs are dragged (on purpose). Hence our seats were reshuffled into 4 columns, two seats broad and I ended up seating beside Sakthish.
All I knew of him was the baseless quarreling he and Tingyu, who was just goth-girl back then, engaged in during recess. Apparantly he likes doodling and annoying people very much. A memorable event occured during that term as well, me failing a maths test. I was really distressed and started crying in class. Joanne and Jia Wei, though sitting near the back of the class, wrote a really kind note which I still keep and got people to pass it to me. It gave me the strength to stop crying, that ordinary and now crumpled sheet of fullscap paper. Sakthish was really kind back then, he didn't even make fun of me over crying. In fact he later told me that he was shocked when I broke down suddenly as thought that I was too tough to cry. Hopelessly annoying you may be at times, you've really been a great friend. Dude.

The sports carnival 2009 was probably the best school sporting activity in my life. That in my primary school involved super dumb inter-house games where hardly anyone knew each other. We had fun owning everyone else and being the Champion Class.

The June holiday science project whereby we had to seperate water from a whole lot of random stuff was what brought me, Rachel, Kay Jan, Tingyu and Taiwen together. We spent much time being random and working out the project at my house. You lot were the first secondary school mates to drop over. It was then that I learnt about Taiwen's awesome cold jokes and Tingyu's fun-loving side behind the gothic/emo look she seems to portray in school. Sometimes I can't believe that my first impressions of many people in 2/1 2010 were so very off.

1/1 2009 helped me to open up, majorly open up since I was screaming madly in joy by the end of 2009 when the Post Exam Activities kicked in and we were having so much fun after the nutcase cramming.

2/1 2010 was just as awesome, if not more awesome seeing as I don't feel so guilty about being the insane me anymore. In fact, I believe that I owe my success in my studies to the class as, I only manage to learn stuff when I'm having fun. My life is pretty much governed by fun. Now it makes sense as to why I couldn't do just as well back in primary school.

2/1 2010, this song is for you XO.
